More about Gondolo 5124J 18K Yellow Gold Manual Wind
This is an 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Gondolo 5124J-001. It has a leather strap with a matching 18k yellow gold buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The 33mm by 43mm tonneau-shaped solid two-body rectangular case and stepped art deco-style case and bezel are polished. There is a transparent sapphire display case back secured by 4 screws. The dial is white with applied yellow gold baton/dart hour index markers with an Arabic numeral 12. It has yellow gold feuille hands and an outer rectangle chapter ring with minute divisions. There is a gold-rimmed subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and there is a 44-hour power reserve at full wind. The 7.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Gondolo 5124J-001 has a manual winding mechanical Patek Philippe caliber 25-21 movement that's rhodium plated with fausses cotes decoration, and it's stamped with the Seal of Geneva quality mark. It's constructed with 18 jewels, 7 bridges, 142 components, and a shock absorber mechanism. It has a straight-line lever escapement, and a Gyromax monometallic balance adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions. There is a self-compensating free-sprung flat balance spring, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). The Gondolo series debuted in 1993 as Patek’s homage to Art Deco. These watches are a contemporary re-examination of the stepped, stylistic lines of the 1920’s art movements that so influenced industrial design. The line is named for the “Chronometro Gondolo” pocket watches created by Patek Philippe for the Latin Brazilian Gondolo & Labouriau jewelers in Rio de Janeiro in 1902.
