Where you’re from:
Hammonton, New Jersey
The first watch that moved you:
I was in the duty free section of JFK Airport in 2007. I had some time before my flight and I was wandering through the shops. I stumbled upon the Omega Planet Ocean in the case with the orange bezel and it immediately caught my eye.
Why:
That watch sent me down the rabbit hole! I had always liked watches before that, but this was the first one that really made me want to figure out a way to own it.
Day-to-day:
As a senior person on the sales team, I help newer sales members finesse their deals, handle inquiries and questions, and enjoy working with clients to help them find the watch that meets both their needs and their personality. I price for our New Arrivals and, along with Justin, host the Horological Happy Hour live every Thursday at 4pm Eastern time..
Grail:
A Patek Philippe 3970 in yellow gold. I love the old school sizing of these as well as the nice open feel of the dial since it doesn’t have any tachymeter scales around the edge. Patek at its best in my opinion.
The world should know:
After I earned my Master’s in Music from Boston University, I worked full time as a professional trumpet player. It was then that I began to truly appreciate the marriage of form and function found in my instruments. This naturally led to an appreciation of fine watches since they share this quality. Outside of music, which I regularly play, I like hiking, mountain biking, and chess.
Bonus:
I have found watches similar to music in that they are an excellent vehicle for self-expression and there are endless possibilities and options to choose from. I have personally been drawn to "simpler" time-only watches as it creates the broadest palette for creativity from the watchmaker and provides huge freedom of design. I love seeing interesting case designs, like the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso's, the Patek Philippe Gondolo's, and the Roger Dubuis Sympathie pieces. I also appreciate watches like the Rolex Explorer and Omega Speedmasters, which have been a part of momentous events in history while remaining largely unchanged into our new modern era. In a world where many things we buy are disposable or soon outdated, I find the timeless nature of a fine watch very satisfying.
